Why do people blog about absolutely nothing

At one point, I thought that blogging was supposed to be about something...I thought that people really had something to say.  Today, I ask myself, why do people blog about absolutely nothing?  There is so much going on in the world, so to create a blog that speaks on nothing is simply a waste of time.  Honestly, how many times have you looked at someone's blog and thought to yourself "what the hell?" or "what in the world is this person talking about?"  You see, this is ridiculous!  With the country going to hell in a handbasket and the economy (well, enough said) - we can't think of anything else to talk about?  You're kidding me right?  People...let me hear what you have to say about this!!!
